Luxury weddings in Italy represent a rapidly growing market, approaching one billion euros, attracting couples from around the world with exclusive locations such as historic villas, Tuscan villages, the Amalfi Coast, and Lake Como. With a high average spending per event, luxury weddings focus on “Made in Italy” quality, extreme personalization, and gourmet catering services.
Breathtaking seaside sunsets, mountainous views of castles and ultra-luxury villas, the intimacy of sea caves, and, of course, the mild climate and exceptional cuisine—Italy’s beautiful and diverse territory offers the perfect setting for weddings of every style. This is why the country consistently ranks among the top choices for couples planning a destination wedding abroad.
Weddings have become an economic, cultural, and strategic driver for Italy’s high-end tourism sector. This is confirmed by the latest report from the Destination Wedding in Italy Observatory, promoted by Convention Bureau Italia and Italy for Weddings, presented in Rome in the presence of the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, and Rome’s Major Events Councillor, Alessandro Onorato. 2025 marks a turning point for the sector, with over €1.1 billion in revenue, nearly 17,000 foreign weddings held on Italian soil, and more than 3 million overnight stays generated.
These figures reflect a mature and established reality in which weddings have become one of the most dynamic segments of luxury tourism.
According to the Observatory, destination weddings have reached a stable and mature scale, with an average budget of around €67,000 per event. This is no longer merely a post-pandemic recovery; it represents sustained growth, underscoring Italy’s central role as a global benchmark for experiential weddings. Couples choose Italy not only for the beauty of its locations but also for the opportunity to enjoy a complete experience that combines culture, landscapes, gastronomy, and hospitality.
Luxury Hospitality: Weddings as a Strategic Driver
International weddings have a direct impact on high-end hospitality, with an average stay of over two nights per event. Historic villas, castles, villages, and private residences are the predominant choice, reflecting a strong interest in authentic and scenic settings that showcase Italian history.
At the same time, there is increasing attention to luxury hotels, private estates, wineries, and immersive venues throughout the regions. Weddings thus become a full travel experience, seamlessly combining accommodation, storytelling, and discovery.
